when you are learning how to sew as a beginner however, it can be difficult.
Getting your sewing machine, sewing machine tools, and your fabrics is the first step. The next step is to try easy sewing projects. Especially projects for the beginners.
There are a lot of easy sewing projects online.
I have however assembled a list of 7 easy sewing projects for beginners to help those who want to start building their skills. These projects range from quilting to making a pillowcase, and even some basic clothing items.
1. Quilted Potholder
2. Reversible Tote Bag
3. Pillowcase
4. Apron
5. Daily use DIY bags
6. DIY Clutch Purse
7. Travel Suitcase Cover
Quilted Potholder .
Quilted Potholders are a sewing craft that is made from a square piece of fabric, typically cotton. Sew cotton squares together to form a potholder-like shape. Quilted Potholders are made from any size or shape of fabric and any thickness of batting.
Cotton is the most common material for making quilted potholders. This is because it is inexpensive and easy to sew into shapes on the sewing machine. Quilting on these types of materials creates more layers on the surface of the potholder which makes it more durable and heat resistant than other types of fabrics like wool, silk or linen. Erica Arndt illustrates in the video below on how to use fabric piesces to make quilted pot holder
2. Reversible Tote Bag
There are many benefits of using a reversible tote bag.
I use them for different occasions. For example, when you are going to the mall or when you are going to the beach.
A reversible tote bag is made in two pieces of fabric, one for the outside and one for the inside.
However, in order to make it reversible, both pieces of fabric should have an identical pattern on it.
These things could be done by simply sewing them together at the center line. Or by cutting out both pieces separately but with an identical pattern on each piece.

3. Pillowcase
A pillowcase is a relatively simple sewing project. If you’ve never sewn before but you want to make a pillowcase, this is for you!
You will need:
Fabric (I used light weight cotton with a pretty print)
Thread
Pins
Scissors
Sewing Machine (optional)
The steps on how to sew a pillow case are not difficult at all. Once you know the basics, you’ll be able to do it in no time!
First, lay out your fabric and fold it in half lengthwise.
Next, lay the two cut edges together with the right side of one piece facing out and the wrong side of the other piece facing in.
Pin then sew around 4″ from the top edge (leave an opening for turning).
You can make a hem at this point if you want to.
Turn your fabric inside-out through the hole left in step 3 and press flat with an iron or use your hands to smooth out any wrinkles. Fold over 1/2″ inch near top edge (you may need pins) and press.
